LAKELAND - Leo Adam Thomas, 93, of Lakeland, passed away Nov. 16, 2014, due to natural causes. Leo has lived in Lakeland since 1968, when he moved here from Ambridge, PA. He served during WWII, in the U.S. Navy, both in the Mediterranean and the Pacific. Leo worked for many years as a department sales manager for Montgomery Ward, was a founding member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and was a long time member of Am. Legion Post 8, Winter Haven, where he was the bugler, and played Taps at more than 500 funerals. His love of music and the trumpet were his hobbies. He will be remembered as a devoted man of faith in God, family, and country. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Alfreda in 2001, and is survived by his daughters, Teresa Knowles Phillips and her husband Denny, and Nancy Kahrs and her husband George; two grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. The Memorial Mass is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 22, at St. Anthony Church, 820 Marcum Rd., Lakeland at 10:00am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Talbot House Ministries, 814 N.
