Kent was born on January 5, 1943 in Pasadena, CA. He worked as a marketing director and was a member of Lake Gibson Nazarene Church.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy Selby; daughters, Kim (Tony) Giannini, Christine (Matt) Wiemero, Amy (Jimmy) Smith; sons, Glendon Thomas Selby and Joshua Justin Selby; brother Chris Selby; grandchildren, Wyatt and Cash Wiemero, Ryan Zeller, Tyler and Brenna Giannini, Aubre Latko, Kailyn and James Smith.
