Kathryn "Kaye" N. Menefee's Obituary
Catherine Ann Novotney Menefee
November 8, 1931 - September 3, 2023
Mrs. Kathryn N. Menefee went home to be with the Lord on Monday, September 3rd, 2023. She was the daughter of Florian and Julia (Volkulich) Novotney born in early November in Heilwood, Pennsylvania. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her 4 sisters; 2 brothers; and her beloved husband, James D. Menefee Sr.
Kaye is survived by her 2 sons, James D. Jr. (Cyndie), Bradley (Nancy); 1 daughter, Margo Menefee; 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. The family would like to express much gratitude to granddaughter, Elise Faith Menefee, for being a loving caregiver.
Kaye grew up in Heilwood, a small coal mining town in Indiana County, Pennsylvania where her father immigrated to from Austria. After heading to the big city, Washington, D.C to work as a Secretary for the FBI, she met the love of her life and married James in her hometown on January 29th, 1951, at St. John Baptist Catholic Church. Many will surely remember her for having a story to tell of her childhood, the way she met her "dear Jim", the travels she was blessed with around the world and almost all 50 states, or the love and pride she had in raising a family. She attended Villa Maria College in Cheektowaga, New York and taught first grade at a local Catholic School. She and her husband were active members at their churches, First Assembly of God (Depew, NY) & Victory Church (Lakeland, FL) where serving the Lord was their greatest joy.
Visitation will be Wednesday, September 13th 10-11AM at Victory Church, Light of Lights Chapel with services to begin at 11AM. Entombment will follow at Serenity Gardens.
