In loving memory of our dear friend Kay Eves:
It’s hard to find the words to adequately express how sorry we are that your beautiful family and your many friends must now say good-bye.
Kay, your strength and courage inspire us to fight like you did, if we are faced with adversity. Your resilience reminds us to bounce back and start anew, like you did. Your hope and your never-ending positivity embody the idea of focusing on what you have that day, but not what you have lost. Those qualities allowed you to fight so hard, for so long. Thank you, Kay, for allowing us to be at least a small part of your support system, as you’ve dealt with all of the ups and downs of the last seven and a half years.
We will always cherish the great memories we have of Kay and how she impacted our lives. In the early days (late 1980’s) we all lived in the Dana Shores neighborhood of Tampa. We took the Dana Shores Women’s Club by storm when we instigated Happy Hour parties, kid’s events and a whole lot more. After Tampa, we didn’t live near you for several decades, but Kay (and Don) were the friends you could call…and pick up the conversation where you left off, whenever you last talked. In recent years, now that we are not that far away, there were wonderful dinners together, more phone calls and many texts.
We will always smile when reminiscing about our trip to New York City sometime in the early 1990’s? We saw Phantom of the Opera on Broadway and then it rained like crazy! The saga of the cheap and gaudy “travelling umbrellas” bought from a street vendor, came out of that adventure. Back and forth, those 2 ugly umbrellas went between us. Disguised as elaborate gifts in person, randomly sent in the mail…even delivered with a floral arrangement one time. Funny, priceless memories.
But most importantly, we remember the easy conversations…and of course, the tough ones. They were an important part of the love and support that has been the foundation of our long friendship with both Kay and Don.
We are sending our love to you Don, and to all of the family, as you navigate the new path you will take. We will continue to hold Kay in our hearts and minds. She has made an incredible difference in the lives of so many people, including ours.
Faith, Family and Friends: Kay always acknowledged the importance of those 3 necessities in her life. She had faith and a loving family. We are thankful and honored to have been her friends.
Sending our love and sympathy-
