Judithe White McMullen's Obituary
Judithe White McMullen passed away peacefully at her home in Tavares, FL on Tuesday February 9th, 2022 at the age of 84. Born July 31, 1937 in Rutland, Vermont to Lucille Gray White and Royal Winslow White. “Judy” had a humble childhood and later graduated from Rutland High School. She later studied at Florida Southern College in Lakeland, Florida where she was very active in the Alpha Chi Omega sorority, married Ed McMullen, Sr. and made many life-long friends. She would become the Chapter Adviser after her College years for the sorority she loved for almost 20 years. Judy was an active member of the Lakeland Junior League, Lakeland Theatre’s Guild and the Lakeland Yacht Club.
Judy’s passion for mentoring college students and performing in the theatre came second to the love she had for her family. Mother to four children, Ed McMullen, Jr., Malcolm, Melanie and Michelle. She was “Ghee” to 9 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren. Her devotion to her family was her life purpose and her greatest joy. She was always active in the community and the “2nd mom” to her children’s friends and neighbors.
Judy is survived by her four children, Ed Jr. (Debbie), Malcolm (Lynn), Melanie Gardner (Tim), and Michelle Counter; 9 Grandchildren, Tyler McMullen (Wesleyann), Tanner McMullen (Jacqueline), Michael Hansberger (Hannah), Lauren Lawinger (Peter), Kevin Hansberger, Chase Counter (Sarah), Carlin Counter, Trace McMullen, and Rachel McMullen; and 6 great grandchildren- Wells McMullen, Kennedy, Dylan and Reese Lawinger, Arthur Hansberger and Collins Counter.
Services are being held at Gentry-Morrison Southside Funeral Home in Lakeland on Friday, February 18, 2022. Visitation with the family will begin at 9 am with celebration of life at 10 am. In lieu of flowers, Judy would like for contributions to made to a Florida Dachshund rescue: lowriderrescue.org
