Joyce Ann (Stalls) Hayes
January 16, 1937 - April 24, 2025
Lakeland - Mrs. Joyce Ann (Stalls) Hayes, 88, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 24,
2025. She was born in St. Augustine, Florida, and moved to Lakeland 65 years ago to start a life with her husband, Cecil. She was a loving mother of three children, "Nannie" to six grandsons, and great-grandmother to seven great-grandchildren. She was loved and cherished by her sister, Pat Johnson of Mississippi. Joyce was also deeply loved by her sister-in-law, Betty Baxter, and brother-in-law, Floyd Hayes. She was adored by her two favorite sons-in-law, her loving daughter-in-law, and many nieces and nephews.
Joyce loved word search puzzles and spent countless hours enjoying them on her iPad when she wasn't traveling or spending time with her family. She was a member of Kathleen Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Cecil Hayes, along with her parents, Raymond Stalls Sr. and Lucille, and her brothers, Raymond Jr. and John. She is survived by her sister, Pat Johnson; son, Gary Hayes (Amy); daughters, Tami Mills (Alan) and Belinda Conner (Ronald); and grandchildren, Kevin Conner (Sarah), Kristopher Conner (Amber), Cory Mills (Breanna), Chad Mills, Taylor Holt, and Grayson Holt. Great-grandchildren include Ella, Isaac, Blakely, Bryson, Braelinn, Brody, and Caden.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, May 2, 2025, at Kathleen Baptist Church in Lakeland, FL. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., with the service immediately following. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kathleen Baptist Church Youth Department (3939 2nd Street NW, Lakeland, FL 33810) or Holly Grove Baptist Church, Attention: Kevin Conner,
Youth Department (P.O. Box 1206, Spring Hope, North Carolina 27882).
Please join the family for a luncheon in the fellowship hall immediately following the service.
A family service will be held at a later date at Florida National Cemetery, in Bushnell, FL where she will be laid to rest with her husband, Cecil.
