My MOM was the greatest lady for sure, i remember things now that happen when i was a kid like her sitting on a wet bus bench that had the wet Sunday comics laying on it , in her new white dress well just about that time her comes a US Army military truck going by with German Prisoners of war on it , like 1940s i think ,when she got up to get on the bus you could read the comics on her new dress in color, also me in one bed room and Gilbert in the other one we both had the hopping cough and the measles at the same time and Mom was there for us for all those days running back and forth between the two rooms WOW what a grand MOM!!!! She never gave up on me even if i was trouble to her SHE !!! was MY MOM!!! The one and only MOM for Me !!!!! Thank YOU Mom RIP!!!! Rest in peace . LOVE,JIMMY

I always knew her as "Mom" by hearing great and funny stories that Danna would share at work. I had the pleasure of being around "Mom" several times, such a beautiful lady inside and out. She was surrounded by such a great loving family. My prayers continue to ask for strength and comfort during this time of sorrow.

In 1977, my parents, younger brother and I moved back to Virginia. We lived with Grandmom and Granddad until our parents bought a house. Some of my fondest memories as a child were my Mom telling us my brother and me to come right home after school as Grandmom was coming to take us boys out somewhere (a movie, the circus, etc.). My Grandparents had a beach house in North Carolina after they retired. We would often visit and Grandmom would cook up the crabs and occasionally fish (not as bountiful) we caught in the water behind the backyard. We would head 2 miles or so down the road to the ocean to swim. These too rank among my fondest memories as a child. In 1985, my family moved to Texas. I did not see Grandmom as much as sometimes happens when one moves away. However she was still very much a presence in my life, her intelligence and her kindness providing so much security over the decades. I last saw Grandmom in 2013 when I drove down to Houston to visit her, Aunt Debbie and Laurie and I last spoke to Grandmom a few months ago. That call ended as every call I ever had with her, her telling me "Love you Dougie.". Love you too Grandmom.
