JOSEPHINE LaGASSE BURNS, 73
LAKELAND
Josephine LaGasse Burns, 73, passed away on Monday July 14, 2014 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Brooklyn, NY, and moved to Lakeland in 1972 from West Babylon, NY. Josephine worked as an administrative assistant for the State of Florida Department of Transportation in Bartow, FL. She was a talented member of The Dominoes Cloggers; was known as an enthusiastic artist and she enjoyed being a part of the Beacon Terrace Community.
Josephine was preceded in death by husbands, Norman LaGasse and Joseph Burns. Survivors include her daughters: Donna (Steve) Ready, Doreen LaGasse, both of Lakeland, Denise (Jeff) Brown of Valrico, FL; brothers Angelo (Simone) DiGiovanni of Caen, France, Domenic (Gigi) DiGiovanni of East Stroudsburg, PA; step children, Karen DeSantis, Joey Burns and Cindy Dash; grandchildren, Seth, Whitney, Nikki, Ashley, Chelsea, Kristen, Nathan & Derek; and 5 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Thursday, 10:00am - 11:00am at Gentry-Morrison Funeral Home, Southside Chapel, 1727 Bartow Rd. with services to begin at 11:00am. Interment will follow at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL.
