LAKELAND - Joseph Hubert "Joe" Carlson, 83, of Lakeland, Florida, passed away suddenly on Sunday, July 20, 2014 due to heart failure. He was born March 26, 1931 in New York. Joe is predeceased by his parents, Ruth McWayne Carlson, Edwin R. and Grace M. Carlson. He is survived by his crew, Wayne Carlson, Elaine Carlson Miller (Rob), Lin Carlson Taylor (Jack), Eddie Carlson (April), Julie Aultman (Bob), Randy Blankenberg (Edie), Debbie Stevens, Bruce Blankenberg, 17 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and special loved ones Dixie Goodell and Mark Parker. Joe served honorably in the United States Air Force for 20 years, and was a longtime member of the Lions Club, continually holding leadership roles. He deeply loved and was proud of his family and friends. Joe enjoyed singing, dancing, road trips, playing golf and was happiest when surrounded by those he loved. His loss is intensely felt and far reaching.
The family will have a private Celebration of Life service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Dixieland Lions Club.
