John “Jack” C. O’Connor, 85, passed away in Lakeland, Florida.
Jack was born on December 20, 1940, in Miami, Florida, to Agnes and Charles O’Connor. He was a proud graduate of the University of Miami and devoted his life to education, serving as a respected teacher and educator who influenced countless students throughout his career.
Thirty-three years ago, Jack made Lakeland his home, where he became a cherished member of the community. He was known for his dedication to learning, his steady guidance, and his warm, thoughtful nature.
Jack was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Diane O’Connor, who passed away in 2002. Their marriage was one of deep love and partnership, and her memory remained close to his heart.
He is survived by his daughter, MaryJo Costine; his grandsons, Brett (Kerrie) Costine and Blake (fiancé Nathalia Tello) Costine; and his great-granddaughter, Avery Costine, who brought him immense joy.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Oak Hill Burial Park.
Jack will be remembered for his commitment to education, his love for his family, and the quiet strength and kindness he shared with all who knew him.
