JOHN
HAMPTON, 71
LAKELAND - Mr. John Hampton, age 71, of Lakeland, went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 22, 2016. Born in Elwood, Indiana, he moved to Lakeland at age 16 and graduated from Kathleen High School in 1964. He was retired from Flowers Foods after 39 years of service.
He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Janet Gail; his son, Charles Hampton of Lakeland; his daughter, Jessica Griesi (Michael) of Lexington, SC; his grandsons, Charles Hampton Jr. and Joseph Hampton; two great-grandchildren; his brothers: Jerry Lowden, Walter Hampton, Frank Hampton, Bill Hampton, David Hampton, Robbie Lowden; his sisters: Mary Johnson, Nancy Page, Susan Holland, Deborah Kennedy, LeeAnn Hampton, Jackie Trumble, Angela Bracchi; his step-mother, Reva Hampton, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Rosie Hampton; and by his brother, Arthur Hampton.
Visitation will be Friday, January 29 from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. at Gentry-Morrison located at 3350 Mall Hill Drive in Lakeland. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. Friday and burial services will follow at Socrum Cemetery.
