John H. Best, Jr., 79
Lakeland – Mr. John Best, Jr. passed away on Saturday July 30, 2016. He was born in Bethesda, MD and moved to the Lakeland area in 1963. John worked as a Ford automotive mechanic. He was of Methodist faith and he was a US Air Force veteran.
John was one of the original founders of the Sun n Fun Fly In, where he also served as the official photographer. He was the former bugler for his Boy Scout Troop and then again in the US Air Force. John loved motorcycles, especially the four of his own. He also had a love for weightlifting, model airplanes and being a private pilot.
John was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine Best. He is survived by his 3 daughters, Rhonda L. Green, Pamela J. Wright, and Cheryl A. Reynolds, all of Lakeland, nine grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Visitation with the family will be on Thursday, 5:00pm – 6:00pm at Gentry Morrison Funeral Home at Serenity Gardens, 3350 Mall Hill Dr. A memorial service will follow at 6:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Bring Jason Cash Home Fund, (c/o Dana Cash) P. O. Box 92, Kathleen, FL 33849, will be appreciated.
