JOAN SHEPHERD MESKE, 85
LAKELAND - Joan Shepherd Meske, 85, of Lakeland, FL, began her most important journey yet and peacefully went to heaven to be with the Lord on May 21, 2015, surrounded by her family, after a 2 year battle with cancer. Born on July 12, 1929, in Columbus, Ohio. She then lived in Huntington W. Va. and Clewiston, FL. She was a key punch operator with the railroad before marrying and starting a family. Then she was proudly a 'homemaker' for the rest of her life.
She is preceded by her husband, William H. Meske, her parents, Franklin Pierce and Margaret Conway Shepherd, brothers Eddie Shepherd and Bill Walters, and twin sisters Betty Ann Chapman and Lorraine Collins. She is survived By her sweetheart & companion of the past eight years, Enoch Crome of Copenhagen, Denmark, her first born daughter, Claudia Jane & son-in-law Garry Shultz, her baby girl Diane & son-in-law Travis Peterson, granddaughter Corena & husband Fernando Suarez, great-grandchildren Cora Barber, Isaac Barber and Marcos Suarez. She also leaves a very special group of people that all called her 'Gram' including: Ansley Shupe Cockram & Abbey Shupe and gone but never forgotten, Aimee Shupe Wingate. Also Alyssa Cameron Willson, Brett Cameron & Jennifer Davidson Cooper.
Cremation service provided by Gentry Morrison. There will be a memorial visitation at The Clewiston Inn in the Sugar & Spice Room on Sunday, June 6th from 2-4 p.m. There will be a memorial service at Highland Park Church in Lakeland on Sunday, June 7th at 2pm, in the sanctuary, with a reception, for everyone, to follow in the Family Ministry Building.
Memorial donations may be made through Claudia Shultz to benefit the JOY Sunday School Class at Highland Park Church.
