Jimmy Dean Daugherty's Obituary
Jimmy Dean Daugherty
Age 83 of Plant City, FL
Jimmy Dean Daugherty, deeply loved by many family and friends, went home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, July 11, 2023, at the age of 83.
Jimmy Dean was born on March 10, 1940, in Ceres, Virginia to French Fox and Mary Blanche Daugherty. He loved his home in Virginia but found a new love for Florida while on a trip in high school with a friend. He thought Florida was so beautiful with palm trees, wide open land and warm weather. It also brought more job opportunities for him. He settled down in Hillsborough County in 1962. Jimmy Dean served faithfully in the United States Air Force and worked for the Florida Department of Agriculture as a State Inspector. What he loved doing the most was being a farmer. His love for agriculture began at a very early age and continued until the day he passed away asking about the new calves at the farm and which cowboys were helping his grandson the next week. It was a given that you could find Jimmy Dean sitting at the barn in his overalls and boots sipping on a Coke, driving a tractor around the farm, working cows and just enjoying the life God had given him. He loved the land and was blessed with many years to cultivate it. He instilled a passion and responsibility to and for the land to his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. That legacy will live on for many years to come.
He was an avid outdoorsman, hardworking farmer and cattle rancher, longtime member of the Cattleman's Association, American Brahman Breeders Association, and beloved member of his church. Jimmy Dean loved being a farmer but even more than that he loved Jesus and his family. His passing will undoubtedly leave deep sadness and grief, but we are thankful we grieve with hope. Hope that only comes through Jesus.
No arrangements have been made at this time. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Jimmy Deans church that he loved so much. Harmony Baptist Church 6008 W. Knights Griffin Rd Plant City, FL 33565.
