I was so sorry to hear about the loss of your parents. It seems fitting that they would pass so close together. What wonderful memories I will always cherish of summer vacations spent with your family. Sleeping on a mattress on the living room floor with my cousins, our moms cooking delicious meals together, riding in the ice cream car at the farm house in Joliet! I could go on and on. One thing that holds a special place in my heart is the laughter our parents shared just spending time with each other. Every Sunday afternoon my mother wrote a letter to your parents, and looked so forward to receiving letters from your mom. They shared a special bond. I’m grateful for all the memories I have. Jerry, you were my second dad....and I will miss you! Thank you for the many giggles and grins through the years. Our family times together were always filled with laughter as we sat for hours reminiscing about the many antics you shared with my dad, Tom Sowder.

Closeness cannot begin to the describe the bond that Jerry and Jean and my mom and dad (Alice and Tom Sowder) shared. They were brothers and sisters - best friends - a family united together! Though my mom, Alice, is no longer with us, I'm sure her beautiful soul welcomed him in heaven with a smile and hug! I am so grateful to be a part of this special family and the blessing of a second mom, my four wonderful sisters, and my extended family of love!

I consider Jean and Jerry my “bonus” set of grandparents, and I am so blessed to have grown up knowing Jerry. He was always full of laughter and he gave the best hugs! There are so many wonderful memories that I have with him, especially during the Holidays and Disney marathons. The beautiful friendship that he had with my grandparents, Tom and Alice Sowder, and how he treated my Mom and me as one of his family own... truly shows that “friends” really are “family”. I love you, Jerry, and will miss you greatly. Many hugs and prayers to the family during this difficult time.
