Jean L. Boone's Obituary
Jean Lane Boone was born in Clermont, Florida on September 24, 1934, to the late Dewey and Suretta Lane. She passed away on October 18, 2019 at her home in Lakeland, Florida.
Jean was the youngest twin of eight children. She had a love for sports since grade school where she participated in basketball and cheerleading. Jean was a legal secretary for T.C. Cork prior to meeting the love of her life, James E. Boone, Jr. They married and moved to Lakeland, where they settled and raised their two daughters. She participated in PCTA and USTA tennis for a total of 40 years. Her tennis accomplishments included representing Lakeland, FL in the National USTA with her teammates. Jean was also an avid golfer and enjoyed playing with her family and friends. She loved the mountains, the beach, fishing the Everglades, family activities, and was an avid reader. Jean was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church, and locally was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
Jean is survived by her husband of 62 years, James E. Boone, Jr; daughters, Jennifer Brinson and Jaime (Stan) Gottlieb; twin sister, Joan Lane Cantwell; and grandchildren, Hunter, Chase, Lane and Laurel. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Palma, Michael, Leland, Melvina, Paul and John.
Visitation will be held Saturday, October 26, 2019 from 10:30 am – 11 am at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Lakeland, followed by a Memorial Mass in Jean’s honor at 11 am at the church.
