Janie Frances Reis
Age 81, died Saturday, March 11, 2023, after a brief illness.
Born in Rogersville, TN on January 29, 1942, to James Franklin and Lola Mae Walden. She came to Lakeland in April 1981. She was a restaurant manager, homemaker, and a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She was the true definition of a Southern Belle, having never met a stranger. She lived her life to selflessly serve others and loved her family fiercely.
Mrs. Reis is preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Claude Jefferson Bailey, her brothers Earl Walden, James Walden, Jr., and Harry Walden and her sisters, Vivian Johnson, Sonja Davis and Mary Walden.
She is survived by her husband of 10 years, Frederick Lee Reis; her son Jeff Bailey (Cindee) of Lakeland, FL, her daughter Rebecca Crosby (Nick) of Lake Wales, FL; her grandchildren Madysen Capel (Fred), Micah Bailey, Nyla Saumier, Nadyne Saumier, Allyson Crosby; great-grandson Jensen Capel; sisters Betty Luster (Dayton) of Kingsport, TN and Wanda Mowell of Blountville, TN; brothers Irvin Walden of Titusville, FL and John Walden (Christina) of Piney Flats, TN.
Visitation will begin 9 a.m. Friday, March 17, 2023, at Gentry-Morrison Funeral Home, 3350 Mall Hill Drive. A Funeral Service will follow at 10 a.m. with Pastor Shane Skelton officiating. Pallbearers will be Bill Bailey, Jeff Bailey, Micah Bailey, Nick Crosby, Jerry Luster and Jackie Daniel Walden.
A private interment will take place on Monday, March 20, 2023 at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.
Donations may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice or the Calvary Baptist Church Building Fund.
