Janet Bellamy's Obituary
Janet Conner Bellamy “Jan” passed away peacefully on August 12 with her family by her side. She is preceded in death by her husband of 40 years Steve (d. 2018) and her brother Michael Conner (d. 2017). She is survived by her sons Jacob (Kristen) and Philip (Megan), grandchildren Grayson and Kinsley, sister, Marcia Gilmore, brother, Mark Conner, mother-in-law, Barbara Bellamy Logie, brother in-law, Roger Bellamy, sister-in-law Dusty (Jim) Sawyer, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was born in Savannah, Georgia on August 21, 1954 to an Air Force family. After living in England, Georgia, and Massachusetts, her father retired to Phoenix where Jan graduated from Camelback High School in 1972, attended Oxford University in 1975, and graduated from Arizona State University in 1976 with a BA in Education.
In 1977 Jan lived in Los Angeles where she met her husband, Steve, at Christian Associates Seminary. They were married in Phoenix on September 2, 1978. In 1984 they relocated to St Petersburg, Florida where Jan began her real estate career and later moved to Lakeland in 1992.
Jan loved her husband and two boys dearly and was always up for any adventure they threw her way from white water rafting, hunting, ropes courses, and traveling the world. She also loved to read and was a trivia whiz. She enjoyed entertaining and was always up for a party and celebrated even during her last days.
In her 34 years as a dedicated Real Estate Professional, she has been recognized as an outstanding agent nationwide and has earned many Real Estate honors including: RE/MAX Hall of Fame, RE/MAX Lifetime Achievement Award, Top 10 Team Leaders in Florida, and is listed among the Top 100 Worldwide. She has served on numerous state and national Real Estate committees and has consistently been recognized for her professionalism, dedication and unquestionable integrity. She also was very involved in the Lakeland community, serving on the board of A Woman’s Choice and several other community organizations.
As an active member of Highland Park Church, Jan accompanied her husband Steve on numerous mission trips to the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, Haiti, Cuba, Puerto Rico, the Bahamas and South Africa. They were actively involved in building churches and providing resources while fostering long-term relationships with churches and communities abroad.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday, August 16 at 2:00pm at Highland Park Church, 4777 Lakeland Highlands Rd. Lakeland FL, 33813. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to A Women’s Choice, 1234 E. Lime Street, Lakeland.
