In Loving Memory of Jane Malkove Kaplan (November 14, 1934 - December 25, 2023)
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Jane Malkove Kaplan, a beloved wife, mother, homemaker, creative spirit, and long-time Lakeland resident on December 25, 2023.
Born in Birmingham, AL, Jane's early academic journey led her to Sarah Lawrence College, where she cultivated her creativity and a life-long love for learning. After college, she married her husband Donald, settled in Lakeland and raised two sons, John and David. Jane's love had no bounds and she poured her heart and soul into creating a loving and nurturing home for her family.
Known for her impeccable taste and style which were reflected in every aspect of her life from fashion to artistic expression, Jane had many hobbies and interests. In addition to her love of cooking, baking and entertaining, she became a skillful jewelry designer and maker. She was a petite beauty with a great sense of humor and a big laugh. She loved the movies, art, writing poetry, shopping, golf and chocolate.
Jane was a devoted member of many Lakeland organizations, including Temple Emanuel, the Polk Museum of Art, and the Junior League, where her spirit of community shone brightly.
Jane was preceded in death by her beloved husband Donald and her son John. She is survived by her son David, daughter-in-law Jennifer and grandchildren Jordan, Johnathan, William and Rebecca.
Special thanks is given to Jane's outstanding and devoted caregivers for their many years of heroic service, Alice, Alicia and everyone at Alicia's Angels.
