James “Pete” Wise
Lakeland – James “Pete” Wise, 73, passed away July 22, 2021.
Pete was born in Coffee County, Georgia on March 12, 1948 to the late Lester and Lessie Wise. He retired as a mechanic from the phosphate industry. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Pete was also preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Wise; siblings, George Wise, Donald Wise, Johnnie Wise, Carolyn Turner, Edwina Ashe and Marjorie O’Hara; grandsons, Timmy Wise and Michael Pletcher. He is survived by his children, James (Anita) Wise, Kenneth (Kimberly) Wise and Janet (Brian) Ivins; sister, Debra Wise; 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Sunday, July 25th from 2-4 pm at Gentry Morrison Southside Chapel, 1727 Bartow Road, Lakeland. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, July 26th at 10 am at Gentry Morrison Southside Chapel. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
