James J. Thornton
James Joseph Thornton, 62, of Lakeland passed away peacefully July 22nd with his loved ones at his side.
Jim was born in New Brunswick but was raised in Milltown, NJ. He was raised Catholic and was an alter boy at Our Lady Lourdes’ Church where he also attended grade school and graduated from Spotswood High.
Jim was proud to work with his older brother David at a family owned business,Tastee Sub, in Edison,NJ. In 1986 he moved to Florida where he spent many years as a master Plummer where he raised his children. Jim always had a way to make everyone at ease and was quick with smooth humor. Always eager to help anyone in need. Absolutely loved milk , meatball subs, oreos and cake. His favorite pass times included boating, fishing with his sons and even building his very own fishing poles. Jim requested to have his ashes released at his favorite place, Cayo Costa.
James was proceeded in death by his parents George and June Thornton, brother G. David and brother in-law David Caldwell. He leaves behind his sons Luke, Matt and Ben; his sisters Anne, Janice, and Kathleen; his sister-in-law Karen and several nieces and nephews who thought of him as the “best Uncle ever”.
