James Oliver Matheny, 87, of Lakeland died Wednesday, September 14, 2022. Jim was born in Wheeling, West Virginia on November 3,1934 to the late Floyd Matheny and Lucille Price. He retired from GTE in Lakeland, Florida. Jim was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Alice E. Matheny.
He is survived by his children, James Matheny Jr. (Denise), Debra Riggan (Henry), Tracy Stawchansky (William), Alece Cox (Seth), his brother-in-law Joseph Baker, granddaughter Rachel Faucher (Andrew) and three great- grandsons, Kaine, Aiden and Elijah Faucher.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated Friday, September 23, 2022, at 10:30am at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church Parish Hall (210 W. Lemon St., Lakeland, FL 33815). Reception following the service at the family’s home.
