James R. Johnson, known to many as “Shine”, 84, of Lakeland, passed away on Monday February 28, 2022. Jim was born January 20, 1938 in Samson, AL to Roy R. and Ruth Johnson King. He graduated from Samson High School and served in Read Obituary
Jim was a mentor to me during my time at the Department of Revenue. I valued his knowledge, kindness and most of all his friendship.

My wife and I worked with Jim at the Department of Revenue and also attended Faith Baptist Church in Tallahassee with him before he retired and moved to Lakeland. Jim was a fine Christian and it was a pleasure to work with him and to consider him a brother in Christ. The family is in our thoughts and prayers. God bless you.

I first met Mr. Johnson when I worked at DOR when I had a part time job in high school. Years later I went to church with him at Faith Baptist in Tallahassee. He was a respected member and leader here. I have much respect for Mr. Johnson both in his walk with Jesus and his professional work ethic. There are not many like him on this earth. I am thankful he continues to live with Jesus.
