James "Jim" Edward Porterfield 's Obituary
James (Jim) Edward Porterfield, 77
Jim Porterfield died on May 7, 2020 at the age of 77.
Jim was born on July 21, 1942 in Bay City, Michigan. He worked and retired as a paint and body man of his business classic car for 50 plus years before moving on to his next venture of wood works local honey, fresh produce, and those famous boiled peanuts. He was a genuine, strong, caring, and talented man.
Jim was preceded in death by his daughter, Christy Lee. He is survived by three daughters; Stacey Jacobs, age 52 and her husband Jerry, Kelly Montonez age 54, and husband Pedro, and Jamie Kratky age 56 and husband Roger; grandchildren Shelby Porterfield Freeman, Harley MacDonald, Neo Montonez, Kristopher Gross, Travis Morrison, Heather Harris, Donovan Ward, and Sarah Padilla; great-grandchildren Damien, Zander, Lelay, Angel, Zachary, Hanna, Evan, Elvis, D.J., and Liam.
Jim loved all animals and helped anyone he could in need. He could fix anything and enjoyed creating things. He has thousands of pure genius creations he continued to create. It seemed like there wasn’t anything he couldn’t make. Jim was a great musician and could play anything on his guitar and bass. He and his band performed at his daughter's wedding reception and many other events for his daughters and grandkids. Many times, Jim would set up and play and sing in the living room with family and friends. He had various skills and traits and tried to instill good characteristics and morals into his children, grandkids, and great grandkids. Jim was a man of deep Christian faith, and a wise man of integrity. Jim loved fishing and often referred to going fishing as going to church. He was at peace with a fishing pole in his hand, that's for sure. He was always looking for tomorrow and never gave up. Jim is the strongest man his family and friends have ever known. Jim will truly be missed and we are all grateful to have had such a wonderful father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. Rest in peace.
In lieu of flowers, take a child fishing.
