SOCRUM - Mr. James Kirby Bryant, 93, passed away due to natural causes April 5, 2014.
Mr. Bryant was born in the Socrum Community of Lakeland on Aug. 5, 1920 to the late John Edward and Jennie Bowen Bryant. He remained a lifelong resident of the area, and retired from Publix Supermarkets after 25 years as a warehouseman. He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of Parkview Baptist Church. Mr. Bryant enjoyed gardening, fishing and spending time with his family.
Mr. Bryant was preceded in death by his siblings, Robert Wayne Bryant, Bernice L. Knapp and Lois L. Walker. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Velma Bryant; sons, James V. (Elaine) Bryant and John E. (Daisy) Bryant; grandchildren, Sandra Rash, Matthew Bryant and Paul Bryant; great - grandchildren, Morgan and Ryan Rash.
Visitation will be Wed. from 10-11 am at Gentry-Morrison Funeral Home at Serenity Gardens, 3350 Mall Hill Dr. Lakeland. Funeral services will follow at 11 am at the funeral home.
