James Emory Brooks III's Obituary
James “Jimmy” Emory Brooks III, 33 of Lakeland Florida, unexpectedly passed away October 14, 2024 following a motorcycle accident.
Jimmy was born on November 7, 1990 to his mother Cheryl Smeed and father James Brooks Jr in Bartow, Florida. Jimmy was loved by a large blended family. He was a beloved father, son, grandson, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend.
It is impossible to put into words, all that Jimmy was to family and friends who all loved him. Jimmy loved his daughter and family immensely. He spread heart felt memories for everyone he encountered through his smile, bright eyes, laughter, energy, jokes and pranks. He had an old soul that knew no strangers. Not only was Jimmy easy to talk to but he was a great listener. Jimmy had a knack for making people laugh and was the life of any event he attended. Jimmy loved the outdoors especially fishing. Even though his fish were always “bigger” when he told it than the pictures showed. However, nothing compared to the love he had for spending time with his daughter. She was the center to his universe, and he never failed to tell anyone that she was the greatest accomplishment of his life. Jimmy had a strong work ethic and loved his job at Dependable Moving Company where he worked since 2019.
Jimmy was survived by the love of his life, his daughter, Leightan “Lil Ladybug” Brooks, his parents Cheryl and Keith Smeed, and James Brooks Jr, his siblings Amanda (Alex) Gillis, Jennifer Robinson, Eric Colpack, and Allen (Jessica) Smeed. His Nieces Kelly (Eric), Madison, Tristen, Kaitlyn, Violet, and Marleigh, his nephews Landon, Aiden, Ricky, Elijah, Judah, and Easton, his great nephews Staten and Koeden, his grandfather Roger Vickers, and many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and friends.
Even though Jimmys life was short lived, the legacy he left behind in the people who loved him will continue to spread joy and comfort to all. Family, Friends and others are invited to reminisce and honor Jimmys life at Gentry-Morrison Funeral Homes-Serenity Gardens Chapel located at 3350 Mall Hill Dr, Lakeland Fl 33810, on Tuesday October 22, 2024 from 10 am to 12 pm. No burial will follow as Jimmy’s final resting place will be with his daughter and mother. Please come relaxed in jeans and t-shirts, that is the only way Jimmy would have wanted it.
