What a wonderful brotherlaw I had for so many years he will be missed
Homer was "Mr. Sunshine". He brought brightness and happiness into everyone's life who were fortuate enough to know him. A great teacher, indeed.
Mr. Gartrell was my Honors Biology teacher at LGHS in 1986. Even at a young age I had a deep respect for Mr. Gartrell because of his kindness and obvious care for his students. He has always been one of my favorite teachers. The last time I spoke to Mr. Gartrell was after church service at Bethel. I approached him knowing after teaching for so many years to so many students he probably wouldn't remember me, it had been about 32 years. Well not only did he remember me but he remember a few stories from that year at our school. My thoughts and prayers are lifted for the Gartrell family. RIP Mr. Gartrell
I have some of the best memories when your Dad, Earl Stokes, Elaine Stokes and I rode together to get our Master Degree from Rollins. Your Dad and Earl would laugh and just keep us entertained. This was such wonderful memories. He was such a wonderful man. I will always cherish the times we all had together. He was so loved by his students, because he cared so much for them. My prayers are with your family for I know how much you miss him, but heaven is blessed with faithful man.
