Harold Reid Cameron Sr.'s Obituary
Lakeland – Mr. Harold Reid Cameron, Sr. went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, July 13, 2017 with family by his side. He had courageously fought Parkinson’s disease and multiple health challenges. He was born in Rich Pond, KY and moved to Lakeland at the age of 8. He credited his 1949 graduation from Lakeland High School to his homebound teacher, Miss Hazel Hailey, following a serious accident. He attended Carson Newman College in Jefferson City, TN, Florida State University and graduated from Florida Southern College with his BS degree in Business Administration. He proudly served his country as a Military Police Lieutenant in the United States Army during the Korean War. Mr. Cameron owned and operated Gulf Coast Automotive Warehouse in Tampa from 1965-1989. He was a major owner and president of CMB Marketing Inc. in Lakeland until he retired in 2006. Harold was an active member and usher of First Baptist Church at The Mall. Harold never met a stranger. He will always be remembered for his quick wit, loving wink and sheepish smile. Besides his successful business career, he enjoyed excursions and creating humorous stories with his grandchildren, fishing, cheering on the Tampa Bay Rays, Seminoles and Gators. He was committed to living a Christian life by exhibiting integrity and concern and generosity for others. He is preceded in death by his parents: Irby Reid and Carrie Mae (Stahl) Cameron. He is survived by his bride of 63 years, Reva Cameron (Brice); four children: Brenda (Matt) Davis of Ft. Myers; Deb (Chris) Clements; Harold (Ina) Cameron, Lisa (Steve) Nichols, all three of Lakeland, and his sister, Frances Garrott of Lakeland. He was a loved Papa of 6 grandchildren: Kevin (Brieann) Cameron; Joel Cameron, Jason Clements, Ashley (Scott) Jones, Cameron Davis and Laura Davis. He will fondly be remembered as “Little Papa” to his two great-grandchildren, Isabella Paige Cameron and Alistair Cameron. He will be greatly missed by many extended family members, friends and neighbors.
Visitation with the family will be Wednesday, 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Gentry-Morrison Funeral Home at Serenity Gardens, 3350 Mall Hill Drive, Lakeland, FL. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, 11:00am at First Baptist Church at The Mall, 1010 E. Memorial Blvd. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Burial Park.
