Grace Eleanor Chartier's Obituary
On December 16, 2022, Grace Eleanor Chartier was reunited, in heaven, with the love of her life, Edward Chartier. Grace was born in Connecticut on March 7, 1930. She was the only girl of four children. Her family moved to Syracuse, NY in 1936 when she was 6 years old. Sometime in 1944 she met the boy next door after he returned home from the war. After several years and many chaperoned dates, she married her forever love on December 1, 1951. After having 3 sons Mark, Gary and Eric, they moved to Baldwinsville, NY where Grace worked at the First Presbyterian Church of Baldwinsville in the nursery and was a preschool teacher. The family moved to Florida in July of 1972. The fireworks went off just as they arrived in Lakeland.
Grace was very talented. Throughout her amazing 92 years she blessed family, friends and strangers with her variety of homemade treasures. Whether it was a birthday or wedding cake, chocolate chip cookies, cream puffs for the church potluck or homemade Chex mix at Christmas, she always had something delicious baking. Alongside her best friend, Helen Laird, she attended many church craft fairs where she sold her homemade plastic canvas. She made angle pins, which she wore every day, and if complimented or asked, she would happily gift it. Grace and Ed were very talented square dancers. This gave Grace the opportunity to make all of their matching outfits. They also enjoyed playing cards with friends and family.
Grace is survived by her younger brothers, Jack Robertson and Jim Robertson; her three sons, Mark (Shari) Chartier, Gary (Karen) Chartier and Eric (Kathern) Chartier. Grace was blessed to have 10 grandchildren and at least 12 great grandchildren.
Her service will be held at the Presbyterian Church in the Highlands on Saturday, January 21st at 11:00 am.
