Geraldine M. Rogers' Obituary
Geraldine M. “Gerry” Rogers, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister passed away peacefully on March 26, 2024 in Lakeland, Florida. Gerry, 86, was born on December 23, 1937 in Aurora, Illinois to Philip and Antoinette (Reckinger) Frieders.
Gerry was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Verlin Rogers, and both of her parents. Gerry is survived by her four children, Neil (Patricia) Rogers, Karla (Fletcher) Crews, Jeffrey (Amy) Rogers and Julie Rogers, as well as grandchildren Therese (Ben) Edmiston, Elizabeth (Sean) Sartell, Michelle (Royston) Connors, Mary (John) LaVanne, Clare (Joshua) Goodman, Margaret Rogers, Alexander Crews, James Rogers, and great-grandchildren Kyleigh, Oliver, and Jonah Edmiston, Kian and Rory Sartell, Timothy and Michael Connors, Eleanor LaVanne, Cecilia and Zelie Goodman. She is also survived by her loving siblings Rosemary (Charles) Roubal and Charles (Marjorie) Frieders, her brother-in-law Elbert (Doris) Rogers, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Gerry grew up working on the family farm which instilled a lifelong love of gardening. She enjoyed travel in her younger years and later followed her husband as they relocated to several states for his career. Florida became home to Gerry, and she thrived in the warm climate and year-round opportunity to be outdoors. A secretary and administrative records keeper, Gerry took pride in her work, ultimately retiring from Lakeland Regional Medical Center. Gerry was an active member of her parish, Saint Anthony Catholic Church, with a strong faith and commitment to our Lord.
A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, April 5th at St Anthony Catholic Church, Lakeland. Visitation will be held one hour prior, from 9:30 to 10:30, also at the church. *Live stream is available through the church website.
