George "Sandy" Russell's Obituary
Lakeland - George Lindsey “Sandy” Russell, 75, passed away in Lakeland on Friday, April 5, 2024. Sandy was born on July 11, 1948, in Anniston, Alabama to George W. Russell and Eloise Martin Russell. He moved to Lakeland, FL in 1964 with his parents and six siblings. He graduated from Kathleen High School in 1968. While attending Kathleen, he was a member of the Kathleen football team. After graduation, he worked for Publix Supermarket as a pre-pack, then made his way as a truck driver. He retired in 2002 after 34 years of service. He loved the Alabama Crimson Tide, NASCAR, and George Strait.
Sandy is preceded in death by his long-time partner Vicki Cooke, his father, mother, two brothers and a sister. He is survived by two sisters, Ginny Roper (Lakeland), LeAnne Niblett (Mulberry), and brother, James E. Russell (Mulberry). He has many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 12, 2024 from 10:00-11:00AM, followed by funeral service at 11:00AM, at Gentry-Morrison Funeral Home, Serenity Gardens Chapel, 3350 Mall Hill Dr.
After services, Sandy will be entombed in the north corridor of the mausoleum at Serenity Gardens.
