George David Hammill, Sr.
Lakeland – George David Hammill, Sr., 87, passed away Jan. 15, 2018.
George was born in Erie, PA on Dec. 26, 1930. He served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1949 – 1954, followed by his 42-year career with Hammermill Paper. 10 years of his career were spent as Maintenance Planning Supervisor at International Paper before he retired to Lakeland, FL.
George is survived by his wife, Nora Hammill; children, George David Hammill, Joseph Paul Hammill, Julie Hammill Craig and Ricky Aaron Hammill; step children, Karen Buckalew, Traci Lynn Peters, Kris Elaine Muthler, Martin Ray Gehrlein and Carrie Sue Gatto; brother, Neal Burke Hammill; his numerous grandchildren; and his beloved dog, Basil. He was preceded in death by his twin daughters, Katherine Ann and Kathleen Jane Hammill; brother, William W. Hammill; sisters, Dorothy Hammill Sullivan, Betty Hammill Tillman, Elva Hammill Green and Sue Hammill Rinke.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday, Jan. 22nd at 11 am at Gentry Morrison Southside Chapel, 1727 Bartow Rd. Lakeland.
