Ledger: George E. "Bud" Black, 90, went home to be with Jesus on Tuesday, June 14, 2016.
Born February 10, 1926 in Winter Garden, FL to George E.W. and Mamie Black.
George graduated from Pasco High School in Dade City, FL in 1944. He served 2 years and 2 days in the US Navy during World War II on the aircraft carrier USS Bon Homme Richard (CV31). He attended the University of Florida before hiring on with the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad as a Fireman operating a coal fired steam engine. He worked as a Railroad Engineer from 1948-1985 and retired from CSX Railroad with 37 years of service.
George is preceded in death by his son, Dennis Wayne, his parents, 4 brothers and 2 sisters.
George was a member of Cleveland Heights Baptist Church, George accepted Christ as his savior when he was 30 years old.
George is survived by his wife, Louise, his sister, Florence Wooten, 4 children, Steve (Sharon) Black, Kathy (Randy) Gortman, Debbie (Danny) Coffman, Mark (Deanna) Black, 4 step children, Jason (Marie) Williams, Michael (Shannon) Williams, Carol (Tom) Joyner, Mary (Randy) McQueen, 6 grandchildren, 10 step grandchildren, and many great grandchildren.
