Genevieve Louise Curry's Obituary
Genevieve was born November 19, 1925 to Antone and Genevieve Georgis in Marseilles, Illinois. On September 9, 1944, she was united in marriage to William Lamar Curry, Sr. in Chicago and then moved to Lakeland where they had four children: Jean, Bill Jr., Carolyn Sue, and Stephen.
In addition to raising her family, Jean also completed multiple university degrees and worked in education as a Teacher and Principal of Lime Street Elementary School before retiring as the Director of Elementary Education for Polk County. A long-time member of South Side Baptist then Medulla Baptist Church. She was also an avid walker, passionate reader, wonderful dancer and enthusiastic lover of life and children.
Preceded in death by her parents, husband William Curry Sr., son Stephen, daughter Jean (Mike), and son William Curry Jr. (Vicky). She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Sue (Terrell) Schambers; six grandchildren: Carolyn, Andrew, Ellen, Robert, Laura, Becky, and three great grandchildren: Kaitlynn, Ava and Hailey.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, June 22nd. Visitation starts at 1pm with the service at 2pm at Gentry-Morrison Funeral Homes, Duke-Steen Chapel, Lakeland. Inurnment is at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida.
