Gary was born on February 23, 1948, in Bronx, NY, the oldest son of Beverly & Selig Weinstein. The
family relocated to Miami, Florida, when Gary was 9, where he graduated from Norland High School in
1965. He enlisted in the Air Force following graduation, and after his discharge and with the assistance
of the GI Bill, he left Miami and enrolled at University of Florida, graduating in 1976 with a degree in
Criminal Justice. He settled in the Tampa/Lakeland area and for over 20 years has owned and operated
a successful business in Lakeland, Target Testing.
Gary was a great man with a kind heart. He always believed everyone had potential, and he sought to
help many reach their potential. Always rooting for the underdog, Gary never left a friend in need. He
believed in social justice, personal responsibility, and community accountability. Gary loved riding his
Harleys, UF Gator games, Tampa Bay Lightning hockey, and spending time with his kids and friends. A
super-intellectual who was often the smartest person in the room, he was always teaching, explaining,
or enlightening those around him from his huge wealth of knowledge and information. He will be
remembered for his generosity, his kind heart, his sense of humor and his unwavering belief that
everyone had the ability to reach greatness.
Services for Gary will be held Sunday, December 13, 2020, 12pm at Gentry-Morrison Memorial Home at
Serenity Gardens, 3350 Mall Hill Drive, Lakeland, Florida 33810. Immediately following the memorial
service, all are welcome to join Gary’s family and friends at a Celebration of Life at Champs, 6645 S.
