Beloved Husband, Dad, Peepaw, Brother, Uncle, Friend, Spiritual Teacher
II Timothy 2:15
“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman, who needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”
Our life has been blessed by the Grace taught by this man. His granddaughter, Jaymee, describes him as the most loving and understanding person, and her favorite person. He was so much to so many.
Survived by his wife Linda, children Timothy Ratican, Jr with daughter-in-law Heather, and Jennifer Kay Ratican (Bryan), whose sadness is only consoled by the many wonderful memories and life lessons he imprinted in their hearts. It is a blessing when your adult children come to you for advice and a non-judgmental ear. Gary was this for his children and many others. His grandchildren Jaymee Lynn, Gabriel Ted, and Sophia Grace, will miss their sweet Peepaw more than words can convey. Gary is the son of Woodrow Wilson Malone, Sr and Emily Earlene Malone, of Alabama, whom he has now reunited with in his Heavenly home. He is survived also by brother Woodrow Wilson Malone, Jr and sweet wife Marianne, of Naples, FL and children were Ronald “Tony” Malone and wife Rebecca of Haines, Alaska, and great nephews Nathaniel and wife Amey, nephew Jacob, and great-great precious niece Maelie. niece Lisa Malone, and great niece Devin and great nephews, Austin and James who have all blessed his life. His sister Charlotte Harrell and husband and bonus brother Doyle, Lakeland, FL, and nephew Benjamin, great nephew Dylan, niece Cassie Long, great nephew Tyler, and great niece Hannah Long, have been a wonderful blessing in his life as well.
Gary worked many entities over his life. He fondly recalled one of his first- working for the mines pulling core samples the old-fashioned way, with sweat and hand augers. He enjoyed the out-of-doors and loved fishing and hunting. When Gary met his wife Linda, all their first dates were fishing dates, something they enjoyed together for 32 years.
You couldn’t be around Gary for long without learning about his faith. He studied the Bible for 55 years and was a faith leader and scriptural advisor to many. It was just a calling that came to him early in life and was the defining characteristic of his walk on earth.
While we are saddened by his loss we are overjoyed at his presence with his Heavenly Father. Gary would leave these words for anyone who would listen: Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word. Through faith we find grace. It cannot be bought or earned. There is power in the reading, teaching, and preaching of the Word. It is all for you, but it is not all to you. Study or find a teacher so that you may find the peace that only Christ can deliver. May the peace of the Lord be with you all.
A funeral service for Gary will be held on Sunday, November 13, 2022 at 11:00AM at Gentry-Morrison Funeral Home, Serenity Gardens Chapel, followed by procession to Oak Hill Burial Park for interment.
Following the burial, friends and family are invited to gather for a Celebration of Life from 2-6pm at Picnic Lake at Teneroc Wildlife Management Park.
