Fred M Slay's Obituary
Fred M. Slay, 74, passed away Sunday, January 5, 2025, in Lakeland, Florida. He was born on June 24, 1950, to Charles and Claudia (Youngblood) Slay in Bartow, Florida.
Fred joined the United States Army in 1970 to serve his country proudly. During his deployment in Vietnam, he sustained injuries that ending his service, earning him a Purple Heart for the sacrifices made in combat. Fred attended church at New Hope Baptist church. He enjoyed gardening, watching movies and being outdoors.
He is preceded in death by his wife Nadine Slay, their son Fred Slay Jr. and his parents Charles and Claudia Slay.
Survived by his daughters Cynthia Hooks (Rick) and Debra Guedesse (Gary), son Chris Slay (Scarlet), eleven grandkids, ten great grandkids, brother Tommy Slay and sisters Jeanie Chavis, Sula Waters, Sandra Vinson, Beanie Page and Sharon Merrit.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Gentry-Morrison Southside Chapel followed by his placement at Oak Hill Burial Park.
