FLORENCE 'KATE' C. BUSH, 86
LAKELAND - Florence C. Bush passed away peacefully Wednesday, September 3, 2014, at hospice due to complications from Alzheimer's.
Known to family and friends as Kate, Mrs. Bush was born in Jersey City, on January 20, 1928. It was there, she met her future husband of 65 years, John G. Bush. After raising a family on the Jersey shore, both Mr. & Mrs. Bush relocated to the Atlanta area. It was there she enjoyed a 20 year career until both retired from Lucent Technologies in 1990 and moved to Lakeland. While in Lakeland she was a member of the Sandpiper community where she participated in their community projects and gatherings and various social activities. She enjoyed gardening, water aerobics and swimming, traveling with her husband, especially the cruises and the numerous stays at the Disney resorts, as well as the visits from her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Julia McAuliffe. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, John G. Bush, sons: John (Cathy) and Gary of Lakeland, daughter, Denise (Cortland) of Lilburn, GA, two grandchildren: Christine (Adam) and Stephanie (Jaison) and four great-grandchildren: Tatum, Kylie, Cortney and Burk.
A visitation will be held on Monday, Sept. 8, 2014, from 1 to 2 pm at Gentry Morrison Funeral Home, 3350 Mall Hill Dr. Lakeland. Funeral services to follow in the funeral home chapel at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to the good people of Good Shepherd Hospice of Lakeland will be accepted in her memory for the caring help and attention rendered during this time.
