Fitzroy "Tony" McKenley's Obituary
Fitzroy Anthony McKenley, affectionately called “Tony” was born on March 29, 1957, to Cynthia Grant in Kingston, Jamaica. He was educated in the Jamaican school system and graduated from the College of Arts, Science & Technology (CAST). He received a scholarship and went on to earn a degree in Civil Engineering and Architectural Plans from the University of Budapest in 1984. He married Claudia Burris and this union produced three children. They emigrated to the United States in 1986, and resided in Bloomfield, New Jersey and later, Stone Mountain, Georgia. He worked for various engineering companies, namely, Job & Job in New Jersey, and Gwinette and Rockdale Counties in Georgia. He always had a creative and entrepreneurial spirit which led him to operate his own building design company for over 5 years. Tony loved to stay busy, so while living in Atlanta, he was an active member of White Oak Hills Baptist Church. He attended Bible College, served as Youth Minister, and drove the church bus transporting seniors to doctor’s appointments and shopping. The seniors loved his patient, kindhearted nature. In 2012, he relocated to Jamaica and later he remarried to Petal, and they have one child (Tori). Later, they emigrated to the United States, residing in Lakeland, Florida. He was a faithful employee of the City of Bartow until his demise. His faith in God remained strong through his affiliation with the New United Prayer and Praise Temple, Kingston, Jamaica. He continued to keep busy, he was a Sunday School Teacher, a member of the Men’s Ministry, the Church Board, and an Assistant Advisor to the
Planning Committee. “Tony” was called from labor to reward on February 11, 2024. He leaves to
cherish his memory: his current wife, Petal McKenley and their daughter, Tori McKenley; former wife, Claudia McKenley and their children: Toni McKenley-Stallings (Donny), Jonathan McKenley, Morghan McKenley; mother: Cynthia Waite; brothers: Wade Morgan, Owen McKenley, Corey McKenley; sisters: Michelle McKenley, Toni Desrosiers; grandchildren: Kingston and Kennedy Dukes, Theodore Stallings, Rilee Stallings and a host of extended family members and friends. His brother, Trevor Marse, preceded him in death.
