Faye A. Powelson Frank's Obituary
Faye A. Powelson Frank, 85
Lakeland – Faye A. Powelson Frank was born in Jacksonville, Florida on September 27, 1929. She had curly hair, bright blue eyes and a smile that would melt hearts and give comfort and encouragement to all that had the pleasure of meeting her.
She was joined by three younger sisters; Marcella (Lowe), Carolyn (Brown) and Phyllis (Singletary). With her sisters and beloved cousin “Doc” she had many adventures that were close to her heart.
She married the love of her life, Leon Frank, in 1948 and they have been inseparable lovebirds ever since. They were blessed with a daughter Tia, and a son, Don. Her devotion to God and her family led to many years of service. She was a Scoutmaster’s wife for decades and active in the Mother’s Auxiliary of Boy Scout Troop 27 in Jacksonville. Her son received his Eagle Scout Award, as had Leon and his father, making them one of a few three generation Eagle families. Years later, Grandson Chris would join the Eagle family, making them the only 4th generation family, at the time. She was also a Den Mother, Brownie Scout Leader, and Girl Scout Leader. She and Leon were counselors and teachers for their church youth for many years. She also took on being a “Working Mom” before it was the norm.
She and Leon retired from the City of Jacksonville and moved to Orlando where they thoroughly enjoyed working at Walt Disney World until their second retirement. They then worked at Out of the Woods with Tom and Tia. Son Don joined them and for many years the entire family was fortunate to work together every day.
She and Leon dressed alike wherever they went and were known as “That cute couple”. They dined out often and made friends with everyone they met. Faye’s favorite way of witnessing was by giving Angel Ornaments to the people they met. After they finally retired, they made weekly trips to Walt Disney World and continued to make new friends with employees everywhere.
Faye lived her life as Angel of God and loved everyone. Her abiding faith in God and His love was a source of great strength and comfort to her and all whose life she touched.
Tia married Tom Landon in 1968. “Grandpa and Grandma Frank” thoroughly enjoyed their grandsons, Christopher and Josh. They visited the national parks via motor home with Chris and took Josh on several cruises. Chris married Susan (Spickard) and blessed them with great grandchildren, Sadie and Hunter. Josh married Amy (Lombroski) and they were blessed with Aalyiah.
She is now reunited with those who preceded her in death; her son, Don Frank, grandson, Josh Landon and great grandson, Christian Landon.
Her faith is unconditional and steadfast. Her entire family takes solace knowing her spirit is enveloped in Joy and Celebration.
