Dukes, Ernestine T., 92,
Lakeland passed away on August 25, 2015. She was born on June 30, 1923 in Snyder, Texas, to the late Paul and Luene Thomson. During WWII, Erne worked as a riveter, repairing aircraft for the U.S. Army, and married the late Harry L. Dukes. Afterwards, she followed a nursing career, earning her LPN then her RN, and working at Lakeland Regional Medical Center as an emergency room charge nurse, at Florida Southern College as a campus nurse, and charge nurse at Peace River Center. To relax, she loved to read and sew. Ernestine is survived by two daughters; Lanne Pendleton, and June (Doug) Murray, grandchildren; Cade (Karin) Murray, and Travis (Elizabeth) Murray, Darren (Marlene) Pendleton, great grandchildren; Kiera, Kyla and Sofie. A Viewing will take place on Sunday, August 30, 2015 from 3-5 pm at Gentry Morrison Funeral Home, Southside Chapel. The Funeral service will take place on Monday, August 31, 2015 at 10am at The First United Methodist Church of Auburndale. Burial will take place at Oak Hill Burial Park.
