Emogene Conrad Strickland's Obituary
Lakeland – Emogene Conrad Strickland, 91, passed away Mar. 6, 2016.
She was born in Lakeland, FL on Feb. 16, 1925, to R.C. and Alice Conrad. She moved to Inverness, FL in 1938 and graduated from Citrus High School in 1943. Mrs. Strickland attended Florida Southern College and was a member of Delta Zeta Sorority. She moved back to Lakeland in 1945 and married her high school sweetheart Hugh Strickland in 1946. She was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church for 61 years, and was their financial secretary for many years. Mrs. Strickland later became a member of First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed driving her boat, fishing and playing golf. She was a very special lady, and a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and she will be missed.
Mrs. Strickland was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, R. Coy Conrad, Jr. and Colvin E. Conrad; and husband, Hugh Strickland. She is survived by her 3 children, Lee Strickland (Beverly), Libby Quarles (Howard) and Scott Strickland; 7 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Thurs. (Mar. 10th) at 11 am in the chapel at First United Methodist Church, 72 Lake Morton Dr. Lakeland, FL 33801. Interment will follow at Socrum Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cornerstone Hospice.
