Emily Caroline Alvarez's Obituary
EMILY CAROLINE ALVAREZ, 91
LAKELAND - Beloved mother, Emily Caroline Alvarez, of Lakeland, passed away peacefully the morning of June 26, 2018. Emily died of natural causes at the age of 91.
Born January 4, 1927 in Lakeland, Florida to Annie Laurie and Remer Kitchens, she was one of six children: Helen Mitchell, Sue Spivey, Ruth Grady, Riva McAllister, and Richard Kitchens.
Helen and Ruth are still living in Lakeland, Florida, while her other siblings have preceded her in death.
Emily’s husband, Joseph Alvarez, passed away in 1965 from a fatal plane crash. Emily’s surviving children are Paul Alvarez, Karen Tucker, Brenda Alvarez, and Susan Alvarez.
Emily loved to learn about most anything and often watched documentaries and Informational T.V. programs. She loved the History channel. She had a large bookcase filled with books on many topics. She was very patriotic and had a strong interest in WWII. She loved a variety of music and decorating for the holidays. She raised four children by herself and provided so much with her meager means. She believed in right and wrong and taught her children these principles. Emily loved animals, especially little dogs; and she appreciated the beauty of nature and had an eye for it. Most importantly, she had a steadfast faith in Jesus Christ as her Savior and Redeemer, which provided her with a sweet, pleasant disposition and peace to deal with her physical challenges during her last years with us. Emily will be remembered with love and admiration by her family and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 29, 2018 at 3:00 pm, at New Home Baptist Church, 901 N. Galloway Road Lakeland, Florida 33810.
