Elizabeth “Beth” Bregler
Lakeland – Elizabeth “Beth” McKay Bregler, 89, passed away Dec. 24, 2015
Mrs. Bregler was born in Lakeland on Dec. 31, 1925, to the late Ivor and Marjorie McKay. Her father served as principal for Lakeland High School during the 20’s, and was responsible for naming the school the Dreadnaughts. Mrs. Bregler was a Lakeland High School graduate herself, and remained a lifelong resident of the area. She was very active at her church, St. Paul Lutheran, where she served as Choir Director, Sunday School Teacher and Ladies Guild Director. She also served as Scout Leader for both the Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts.
Mrs. Bregler was preceded in death by her husband, Francis Albert Bregler, Jr.; and siblings, James Murray McKay and Marjorie Ingle. She is survived by her children, Robert (Brenda) Bregler, Elizabeth Cruz, Janet (Mike) Sabo, Cheryl (Greg) Shell and Stephen (Elodie) Bregler; brother, Ivor McKay, Jr.; 12 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild.
Visitation will be Wed. from 10-11 am at Gentry Morrison Southside Chapel, 1727 Bartow Road, Lakeland. Services will follow at 11 am at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice.
