Eleanor C Worsham's Obituary
Eleanor Carlson Worsham, 93
TAMPA – Mrs. Eleanor C. Worsham entered eternity with God on Monday, February 19, 2018 in Tampa, Florida. Mrs. Worsham was born February 1, 1925 in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
As a young girl, Eleanor and her family relocated to Minot, North Dakota where she graduated from Minot High School in 1942. She continued her education at Minot Teachers College and later graduated from Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri. While in Missouri Eleanor also earned her pilot’s license. After graduation she became an aircraft communicator and then received her wings as stewardess for American and PanAm Airlines.
While serving with PanAm Eleanor met her future husband, Buck, on a blind date. They married in 1948 and her career transitioned to wife of a PGA golf professional and mother to four children. Her husband’s career took their family to many stops in North Carolina, New Jersey, New York and Florida. Upon his retirement in 1983 they made their home in Lakeland, Florida.
While she loved her husband and family with all her heart, Eleanor’s passion for Christ was the centerpiece of her life. She made it her mission to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with everyone. Many friends and family came to know Christ themselves because of Eleanor’s deep love for Him.
Eleanor is survived by her four children Cheryl O’Donnell (Tim), Craig Worsham, Ted Worsham (Shirley) and Jim Worsham; six grandchildren - Christiane Stamp (Joe), James Worsham (Mark), Zachary Worsham, Emellie O’Brien, Katie Worsham, Antoinette Rourke, and two great-grandchildren - Patrick Stamp and Ellie Podhola. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years Virgil “Buck” Worsham, parents Walter and Clara Carlson, and brother Donald Carlson.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 22 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Gentry-Morrison Funeral Home, 3350 Mall Hill Drive in Lakeland, Florida. A private graveside service will be held on Friday at Florida National Cemetery.
