EDWARD C. SCHMIDT, 82

LAKELAND - Edward C. Schmidt, 82, died April 15, 2015. Mr. Schmidt was born in New York City and served in the U.S. Army. He worked for Gannett and Scripps Howard newspaper companies, traveling and moving often in order to correct problems and increase circulation. Mr. Schmidt loved playing Bingo and worked at Pediatric Associates of Lakeland part time after his retirement in 1996. He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years Carolyn Nolan Schmidt and is survived by daughters Dr. Dorothy Ray, Lynne Corbett, Jeanne (Barry) Hulin; grandchildren William Corbett, Chris Ray, Kelly Corbett, Katherine Hulin, Melissa Hulin and great grandson Gabriel Hulin.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, April 22, at 12 noon at Christ Community Presbyterian Church, 6565 S. Florida Avenue.
