Edward S. Reed's Obituary
Lakeland – Edward S. Reed, 87, passed away on Dec. 26, 2015, after a long battle with lung disease.
He was predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Dorothy E. (Perras); a beloved daughter Mary A. Price; and son-in-law Michael J. Gianotis.
In his youth he would set bowling pins at the alley his father owned. He then became a semi-pro bowler and won many championships. He also enjoyed flying his own airplane around the northeast area.
He, and his three brothers, owned a construction company, Eastern Drywall Inc. of Lowell, MA. They employed hundreds of people all over New England.
After his family, his first passion was golf. He was a member of the Nabnasset Lake Country Club in Westford, MA. His retirement was happily spent in Lakeland, FL, where he could golf year round with his many friends.
He is survived by two daughters, Donna L. Gavel and her husband William, Janice Gianotis and her companion Eric Pryor; a son-in-law Arnold Price; four grandchildren, Marc and Kevin Gavel, Candice McVeigh and Leah Yousey; four great grandchildren, Zachary and Jacob Gavel, Jack and Kelly McVeigh, who all knew him affectionately as “Pops.”
A visitation will be held Saturday, Jan. 2nd from 12 Noon – 2 pm at Dolan Funeral Home, 106 Middlesex St. Chelmsford, MA 01863.
