Edward G. Luddeke
Lakeland – Edward G. Luddeke, 91, died January 24, 2019. Ed was born in Alton, IL on January 12, 1928. To the late Charles and Elizabeth Luddeke.
Ed graduated from Alton High School where he was known for his skills on the football field and the nickname, “Handsome Ed”. After graduation he proudly served in the United States Navy before attending Shurtleff College where he continued his football career. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree, Ed went to work for Owens Illinois and retired in 1983. Ed began his second career as a bailiff for the Eaton County Courts System in Charlotte, MI.
In 1995 Ed and his wife, Jean, moved to Lakeland. During their retirement years they enjoyed playing golf and cards.
Ed is survived by his wife of 41 years, Jean; children, Jan (Jack) Page, Sue (Al) Schiesser, Matt (Sissy) Luddeke; step-children, Mike Witters and Nancy Witters; grandchildren, Jessica and Jenna; step grandchildren, Jennifer, Andrea, Nikki, Sarah and Hannah. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Harry Luddeke; and his first wife, Loretta. Rest in Peace “Handsome Ed”.
