Edward E. Hart's Obituary
Edward E. Hart, 92, passed away in Lakeland on Friday, March 17, 2023.
Ed was born in Ladoga, Indiana on April 8, 1930 to parents William Leonard and Opal Helen (McCormick) Hart.
A few years after graduating from Ladoga High School, he enlisted and served in the US Army from 1951-1953, as PFC in the Korea Engineer Corps, moving up the ranks to SFC upon being honorably discharged.
Ed married the love of his life, Margaret "Marge" A. (Burroughs) on November 27, 1954 in Ladoga, and the couple enjoyed married life and raised their family for many years in Covington, Indiana.
Ed owned his own construction company, building both residential and business units throughout Indiana and Illinois. It was Ed's company that built the noted "Beef House" restaurant near Covington.
Ed and his family moved to Lakeland upon retirement in 1993.
He was a lifetime member of the VFW and was active in several leadership positions at United Methodist Church in Covington, Indiana.
He was a member of United Methodist Church in Lakeland, as well as BYKOTA Sunday School Class in Lakeland.
Ed is survived by his wife of 69 years, Marge; daughter and son-in-law Barbara and Doug White of Hudson, IL; Granddaughter Meghan (Brad) Lange; Great-Granddaughters Carley and Mallory Lange; Sisters-in-law Ruth Burroughs of Brownsburg, IN, Norma Hart of Washington, IN, and Linda Randall of Round Rock, TX.
He is preceded in death by a grandson, Michael White.
Family will receive friends for an hour of visitation on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 from 10:00-11:00 AM at Gentry-Morrison Funeral Home, Serenity Gardens Chapel 3350 Mall Hill Drive.
A Funeral service will immediately follow at 11:00 AM.
Ed will be laid to rest privately at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL.
