Edward Boyer's Obituary
Edward Boyer, 66, died October 28, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. Ed was born in Battle Creek, Michigan on June 15, 1953 to the late Donald and Eileen Boyer. He graduated from Lakeshore High School in Saint Clair Shores, Michigan. He attended Kalamazoo College before enlisting in the US Army which stationed him in Karlsruhe, Germany. After his discharge he returned to Kalamazoo, where he worked as a respiratory therapist while finishing his bachelor’s degree in marketing from Western Michigan University. Ed accepted a job in medical equipment sales and relocated to Florida in 1989. He moved to Lakeland in 1992 where he worked in sales until the end of his career when he again worked in respiratory therapy, both at bedside and as a clinical instructor in the respiratory program at Polk State College. In his free time Ed enjoyed playing golf, reading, spending time with friends and family and watching his Detroit Tigers and Lions (although he wasn’t too picky about what sports he watched.) Ed was also a lover of history and had a nearly encyclopedic knowledge of various aspects of military history.
Ed is survived by his wife of 31 years, Marcy (McIntyre); children, Jessica (Michael Wallace), Jennifer Boyer (Thomas Mausen), Emily Boyer (Ronda Yeager); siblings, Ronald Boyer, Robert Boyer, Lisa Bloom, Cynthia Sherrill, Deb Boyer-Grillo; and grandchildren, Trey and Maggie.
A Visitation will be held on Friday, November 1, from 10-11AM at Gentry-Morrison Funeral Home, Serenity Gardens Chapel. A service will follow at 11:00AM.
